Adrian sat in the bar drinking by himself. There was loud music and people crowding the building, filling the club with the smell of lust, sweat, and booze. The music was thumping, almost hypnotic thumping off it's bass line urging people to throw their cares away for the night. Although it had been up to the only solemn face in the mix, he would have preferred somewhere a lot more quiet where he could drown his hurt in peace.
Being home alone wasn't an option for tonight, the silence was too much. For not caring for close relationships, Adrian still felt the need for some interaction. He lifted his hand and gestures for another shot, the barkeep attended to him immediately, recognising the young man. Taking a slow and thoughtful drink, Adrian closed his eyes and thought back to the fateful day..
The morning was wet and the rain didn't look like it would ease up any time soon, but that didn't mean the Thomas men would halt their work day. A fence in the back pasture was broken and needed to be fix before they could herd the sheep into fresh fields. They piled into the old blue truck and drove off slowly, picking up speed as they neared the fence. When something went terribly wrong.
A flock had gotten loose and were in the middle of the road, John tried to slam on the brakes- but they stuck and he tried to swerve and suddenly they were rolling down a ditch at hazardous speed. Their deadly halt came like the crack of a whip as Adrian father's whipped forward and back, William crashed full body into the dashboard. Then Adrian's body being pulled from the seat and his right shoulder going through the windshield and being ripped back.
Adrian slipped back to reality, finishing off his drink grimly. He had no memory of what preceded his personal injury. Having blacked out until the next day in the hospital. He looked down at the empty glass in his hand and set it down, turning the face the crowd of lusty young men and women, sticking out like a sore thumb..
